Fred Mouawad is a global citizen, serial entrepreneur, and Founder, Chairman, and CEO of FM Synergia group that represents the portfolio of companies he founded over the years. The group operates in 12 countries across several industries including the food service business, food manufacturing, creative media, interior design and construction, private equity advisory, IT development and consulting, publishing and trade shows, franchising, and jewelry e-tailing. Fred adds value to his group of companies through the combination of his experience in private equity and his direct operating experience in incubating and growing ventures internationally. Fred is focused on building a common management platform that exploits synergies within the entire group of companies to provide a competitive edge to all its strategic business units. The Group is dedicated to quality and continuous improvement and as such has built its proprietary Integrated Quality Management System that includes ISO 9001-2000 standards and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Fred grew up in Geneva, Switzerland, and attended boarding school at the College du Leman. In 1986 he attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and focused on business strategy, quantitative analysis, marketing, and was a teacher's assistant for the Business Policy & Strategy class. In 1990 he attended the Gemological Institute of America where he obtained a Graduate Gemologist degree and in addition took several other home study courses, and later co-published several articles in the field of Gemology. In 1993, he furthered his education with a year in the MBA program at Harvard Business School, and the following year wrote a case study for the Technology Operations Management department. Fred is also trained in Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001. Some of his hobbies are reading, snow skiing, jet skiing, motorcycling, and scuba diving.
